Planning styled shoots can be overwhelming and stressful. As full time styled shoot creative directors we know that it’s tough to know where to start, what to spend and how to prevent unnecessary stress. That’s why we’ve put so much work into putting together resources for other, newer styled shoot planners!
First things first!
Set a theme. You can’t pick a venue or set a budget without a theme! Your theme will determine how much you need to spend.
You can spend as little or as much as you want. That being said the less you spend the harder you will have to work.
Vendors backing out
There are two ways to prevent your vendors from backing out, pay them or charge them. Due to styled shoots becoming so popular and numerous it’s often not enough to just trade with vendors. Once money is exchanged (or agreed upon if you’re paying them) you will have less trouble with vendors backing out.
Whether you decide to use a contract or not get written agreements on everything! Send emails on what is expected from everyone.
When you do your model call be sure to say how many photographers to expect and that this is a trade for photos or if you are paying. Communication is key.
Finding what you need
Although Facebook, instagram and sites like wedding wire are great for finding people near you be sure to also check out our Vendor Directory. You also can make an account as a styled shoot planner, photographer or wedding vendor!
